R&B Food Group
R&B Food Group was a multi-site food manufacturer, employing 600 people with sales across the UK, Europe and North America. Having identified opportunities in the fast-developing prepared food market, the business grew both organically and by acquisition, investing in purpose-built factories to produce pasta sauces and ready-prepared foods.
It was one of the first companies to market fresh pasta and own label chilled pasta sauces, and soon became a major supplier to Retail Multiples and Food Service Distributors, establishing a solid reputation that encompassed the chilled, ambient and frozen food sectors.
Nick Baker joined the business as Operations Director in 1994 and became Managing Director in 1999, and John Lowndes worked closely with the company over a 20-year period. R&B Food Group was sold to Hazelwood plc for £11.2m.
